How do I arrange a Funeral at Tithe Green Burial Ground?

The majority of funerals at Tithe Green are arranged through local Funeral Directors who then liaise directly with us to arrange a funeral on your behalf. It is possible however for a family to make their own funeral arrangements. We would be very happy to offer help and advice on all aspects of funeral planning under these circumstances.

What kinds of burials are available at Tithe Green?

Tithe Green is able to offer both woodland and meadow burials, as well as ashes interments. A woodland burial is one where a tree is placed directly on the grave whereas a meadow burial is in an open meadow. There is also a meadow area within the burial ground that is consecrated for Christian burials.

In addition memorial trees are available for purchase adjacent to burial areas and it is possible to inter cremated remains when planting such trees.

How am I able to mark a grave site?

Marking of graves is permitted only by the placing of a grave plaque flat to the ground. Trees can also be marked with a plaque. All plaques must be purchased through Tithe Green to ensure the site maintains the feel of a natural burial ground.

Can I buy a burial plot in advance?

Yes, both meadow and woodland plots can be pre-purchased. Due to the limited number of consecrated plots available, these plots are chosen at this time, whereas in the case of woodland or non-consecrated meadow burial, the plot is chosen at the time of burial. Any fees with regard to interment or the purchase of trees and plaques cannot normally be pre-purchased and are made at the time of burial.

Can I be buried next to a family member or other friend?

Yes, family plots are available for purchase and in this instance the actual plots are chosen at the time of the first burial. If a woodland burial is requested then there are areas set aside for family woodland burial where trees are planted once all members of the family have been buried.
