Introduction

In order to offer people the choice of a woodland burial in Nottinghamshire, the Oxton Estate opened the Tithe Green Burial Ground near Calverton 9 miles north of Nottingham in 1999. The burial ground is available for families and friends to arrange the burial of a loved one in an informal meadow and woodland setting. The location is appropriate as it is within the boundary of the historic Sherwood Forest.

In time the 40 acres reserved for the burial ground will develop into around 30 acres of broad leaved woodland made up of memorial trees and 10 acres of wild flower meadows where the graves are located.
